We had a great time at our friend Maddie's 3rd birthday party held at a friends farm. We pet animals, Bella rode her first horsey, went for fun tractor rides, swung on a huge tree swing, jumped and jumped on a huge trampoline, ate pizza, home made Carmel apples, birthday ice cream cake, sat by a fire out in the autumn air, played in a beautiful barn, and had a wonderful time doing all of it! What a great thing to be able to do on an absolutely BEAUTIFUL Autumn Sunday afternoon!!!

fall is in the air..........

Fall is most certainly in the air! It's a tradition we've made that every October we go pumpkin picking... So, we spent some time this weekend at our local pumpkin patch! We had great fun gathering pumpkins to decorate our porch just in time for pumpkin carving! Can you believe how close Halloween is? I love fall it's my favorite season. I love the weather, I love getting to wear sweaters again, I love eating warm hearty food again, like homemade soups, meatloaf, baked chicken, mmmmmmmmmm. It's good!

Sweet Dreams

A while back I wrote about our troubles sleeping. Since that entry we have done a few things that seem to be helping, so I thought I would share! First off we up'd our bedtime to somewhere between 7 and 7:30, and then we follow a pretty tight routine. Here's how our new routine goes... dinnertime, bath time, story time (with both girls), then I feed Meritt and Matt gets Bella tucked in, then we turn on the "Sleep Sheep" for Meritt (if you are wondering what a Sleep Sheep is, it is this darling little stuffed sheep that plays white noise like heartbeat, ocean, rain, whale songs, etc.) (it has been a godsend!!!) then a song or two for Bella on my way downstairs and off to sleep they go. Meritt is still waking up once in the night, but for now we can survive that since bedtime is going so much smoother! I highly recommend the "Sleep Sheep" for anyone out there that has babies or kids that have troubles sleeping... we have a new saying around our house and it is "GOD BLESS THE SLEEP SHEEP!". We loved it so much we bought a 2nd to have a the shop for nap time. One day soon I'm sure we'll sleep all night long... how exciting is that?!

a new toy to play with on a rainy day...

What fun, a toy that a BIG girl, and a little girl can play with together! Sometimes new toys are a fabulous thing when it's no longer warm enough or dry enough to go outside and burn off energy! Laps around the living room make for a fun filled rainy afternoons delight. I'm mighty glad for a little distraction for the girls, the troops get restless when there isn't enough to do!

We've been busy!!!

Here are some pictures of one of the projects that has been keeping us very busy lately. We are in the process of remodeling (or renovating) (historically correctly) our downstairs bathroom. We are having our guy Robert do the "BIG" stuff like installing our marble counter, doing our tile, and opening a doorway, and good stuff like that. Here is the "little stuff" that has been consuming our time, weekends, lunch hours, evenings... etc. IT doesn't feel like all that "little" of stuff, but what fun it will be when it's finished. I can hardly wait. The other project is the basement, but I'll share that another day! I've discovered something.... it takes special (maybe slightly crazy) people to own an old house!
